Historically the operational deployment of counter RCIED ECM systems has been based on planning assumptions.

It can be the case that these assumptions are made by users who have little or no knowledge of the RF spectrum and its effects. Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) and the subsequent training rarely provide an indication of the physical effects of an ECM system in the actual environment where it is to be tactically employed.

Abacus EW offers an innovative and unique RCIED Planning Tool designed to assist users with operation, management, interoperability and training in the defeat of the RCIED.

The design of the system is built upon a thorough understanding of the RF spectrum and the tactics that underpin its intended use. It can easily be tailored to suit any area of operations or the bespoke user.

This unique RCIED Tool is currently undergoing UKTI / MoD evaluation & grading and will be available from April 2010 and will be fully demonstrated at the EW Conference in Berlin (12-13 May 2010)

The RCIED Planning Tool has a wide variety of applications and can be fully pre-loaded with ECM systems, threats, mapping and terrain data. Alternatively, the system architecture affords the user the ability to input their own specific information, thus providing configuration control and security of potentially sensitive data.

With either the pre-set database or bespoke user parameters selected, the user has the ability to look at the best placement of assets, from both the technical and tactical perspectives. This capability provides a platform to graphically display the positive and negative effects of area control, perimeter positioning, ground domination as well as the most effective positioning of ECM assets to maximize the overall effect of the coherent capability.
